Video: J.Cole Explains The Cheerleader Controversy
Jul 27th
J. Cole speaks about the Cheerleader Controversy.
“Basically for the people that don’t know, what happened was that the chancellor of FSU…saw the video and was mad. He felt that the cheerleaders were depicted wrong, which was not the case. But once he made a scene out of it the local high school joined in…it became my first piece of controversy but really this happens in alot of black communities. It’s a generation gap, they don’t get it. They don’t see the good in it. That a kid from the Ville made it out and made something out of himself and he wants to come back home and represent to the rest of the world…they can’t see past the curse words. But I’m not mad…”

+ ON WANTING BLING:
“I’m actually thinking about going to get my first chain. I’m not into anything super flashy. I’m just tired of going to all these shows, like I do a summer jam and Waka Flocka’s there, Gucci [Mane]’s there, or [Young] Jeezy’s there and they come out and they’re just shining like a light bulb, you know? It’s against my whole beliefs as a rapper, but when you see it like that, you’re like ‘Hold up. You’re not about to be out here shining on me boy.’ So I’m thinking about getting a little chain or something. Just something to just glow a little bit.”
+ ON TRENDS FOR THE LADIES:
“I’m a sucker for Rihanna — remember when she cut this side off and she got the hair over here. Or even Cassie. If you do that, that means you’ve got ultra confidence in yourself for you to shave your entire left side — how crazy is that? I like that when it’s done well and worn well.”
+ ON USING SAGGY PANTS TO REBEL:
“I feel like when I got my deal, I sag so much harder now. Because man I feel like I’m never going to get — well, hopefully — I’m never going to get a 9 to 5. I’m never going to go on job interviews. So it’s kind of my rebellion to the world. I’m going to sag my jeans.”
Sorry to the fans residing outside of the U.S, MTV sucks but its okay I’m in the library so I couldn’t watch these either. Anyway enjoy Professor J. Cole’s lessons in fashion!

Jun 22nd
Via MTV.com
The “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010″ will be chosen by you, the audience, from the 20 candidates MTV News has selected.
Cast your vote below, but bear in mind that this poll is strictly limited to up-and-coming talent: artists cannot have released a major-label album by June 21, 2010, or been voted into a previous “Hottest MCs in the Game” top 10, so MCs like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Eminem, Kanye West and even Drake — our #3 Hottest MC last year — and chart-topper B.o.B are not eligible. We’ll have the 2010 “Hottest MCs” rollout later in the year.
You should cast your vote based in the following factors: The MC’s musical skill (rhyme ability, flow and songwriting) as well as their buzz on the street and the impact they’ve had on the game so far. All of those factors should be taken into consideration when casting your vote!
The poll is open until midnight on July 16, and the five MCs with the most votes will be unveiled starting on July 19. All five will be featured on the award show the “Sucker Free Summit” on July 25, and then the winner, chosen by you, will be announced.
As you’ll see from our list below, plenty of up-and-coming MCs have made their names known in recent months. So take a look, consider carefully, and cast your vote!
